Perspective in life and interests

I believe that happiness and good health are integral to life. I am known for my persistence and determination, and have a passion for learning. Having lived and worked overseas, I have a broad cultural perspective and speak fluent Indonesian along with smatterings of Javanese and Arabic. Off the mat, I enjoy reading and drinking good coffee.

Training and major influences

I have been a student of yoga since 2000 and have maintained a daily Ashtanga Yoga practice for many years in line with the teachings of the late Sri K Pattabhi Jois. I travel regularly to practice with Eileen Hall at YogaMoves in Sydney and R Sharath Jois at KPJAYI in Mysore, India. I completed my initial teacher training under Gregor Maehle and Monica Gauci of 8Limbs, and have had the good fortune to have studied with Richard Freeman and David Swenson.

Kat Sadler’s style of teaching

Ashtanga is a physically challenging form of yoga but I am committed to making it accessible to all – regardless of age or physical ability – and to keeping the practice fun. I also aim to build students’ awareness of the more subtle aspects of the practice: linking the breath to movement, focusing the mind and cultivating calmness.
