KNOFF Yoga Master Classes with James Bryan – 14 to 16 July 2017

KNOFF Yoga Master Classes with James Bryan - July 2017

We feel privileged to announce that James Bryan, co-founder of Knoff Yoga is coming to Canberra Yoga Space for a full weekend immersion workshop this July 2017.

Knoff Yoga is one of Australia’s leading yoga schools, and provides the highest quality training available in the world. With a combined 80 years of experience between Nicky Knoff and James Bryan, having both trained and certified in BOTH the Iyengar Yoga tradition and the Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga tradition (1st to 4th series) – this is the first training school internationally to thoroughly combine the benefits of both methods to bring about the full potential in both the practitioner and yoga teacher.

Introducing rigorous technique whilst potent in its fundamental emphasis for the individual to come home to one’s self and taking ownership over one’s own well-being and quality of life — Knoff Yoga continues to provide truly self-empowering and transformative experiences.

** Watch the Knoff Yoga YouTube video below to find out more about Knoff Yoga.

About James Bryan

James Bryan - Knoff YogaJames Bryan was born in Los Angeles (USA) and migrated to NZ in 1969. After studying with B.K.S. Iyengar in Pune, India (1986) and gaining certification, James studied with K. Pattabhi Jois in Mysore, India (1989) and learned the 1st, 2nd, 3rd & 4th Series of Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga.

Out of these experiences and in partnership with Nicky Knoff, the Knoff Yoga System was birthed into existence.

Before yoga, sitting on his back-side in a life crushing office job, led to running marathons in late 70’s and early 80’s. The stretching in long-distance running piqued an interest in yoga.

Weekend Workshop Schedule

Practitioners of all levels and traditions are invited to attend these fun and educational master classes with a modern Western teacher who bridges correct anatomical alignment (injury free) with the energetic principles of Bandha, Drishti, Ujjayi Pranayama and Vinyasa.

These master classes will use the Knoff Foundation Asana syllabus with an emphasis on the Knoff Yoga Principles of Practice, which are universal in application and profound in effect.

When: Friday 14 July to Sunday 16 July 2017
Where: Canberra Yoga Space, Level 1 / 13 Botany Street, Phillip ACT 2606
Cost: $275 for all four sessions or $75 per session

KNOFF Yoga Master Classes with James Bryan - 14-16 July 2017

SESSION 1: Friday 14 July: 5:30 – 8pm — Sun Salutations & Inverted Poses – HEATING

SESSION 2: Saturday 15 July: 10am – 12:30pm — Standing Poses, Forward Bends & Sitting Poses

SESSION 3: Saturday 15 July: 1:30 – 4pm — Arm Balances & Abdominal

SESSION 4: Sunday 16 July: 11:30am – 2pm — Twists, Backbends & Inversions – COOLING

This approach allows for sufficient time to investigate in-depth and answer questions as they arise in the moment. This approach is best appreciated from an overview, i.e. instead of just looking at the individual trees, step back mentally and appreciate the view of the whole forest. Watch the Knoff Yoga YouTube video below to find out more about Knoff Yoga.

All participants will receive extensive notes including:
* Knoff Yoga Overview
* Student Creed
* 5 Pillars of Practice
* 24 Principles of Practice
* Principles of Sequencing
* Foundation Asana syllabus (Full, Day 1 & Day 2)

Participants are encouraged to print and study these before the weekend, so as to gain a lot more out of the sessions.

Kids Yoga Holiday Classes – January 2017

Kids Yoga Holiday Classes - Yoga for Children January 2017

Becoming a child with children
sharing the wonder sharing imagination
being a child makes you complete.

Join us on a journey through the forest, to sea and beyond. What creatures will we discover? Who will you be? What magic can we share?

Our kids yoga holiday classes with Niki De Domenico, offer a safe, non-competitive space for children to have fun, foster self-awareness and creativity while calming the mind and moving the body in a healthy way.

Through games and songs, our classes move through warm-ups to various yoga poses before a moment of rest to explore a visualisation. After yoga we create art about our yoga experience, for example, if we meet a fairy in the forest we make a felt fairy to take home (to remember our journey!).

‘Yoga is a movement of peace. I like doing yoga and you can do any animal you like at the end.’ – Sol, age 5

‘My favourite is being a mermaid in the sea. You have to be quiet, and I feel my heart.’ – Eva, age 3

Ages 3 to 6
Fridays 6, 13, 20 & 27 January 2017 10:00am-11:00am

Find the Bliss Within Yourself – A Special Meditation with Dada Gunamuktananda

A Special Meditation Event with Dada Gunamuktananda - Find the Bliss Within Yourself

Canberra Yoga Space is privileged to have special guest teacher, Dada Gunamuktananda for a FREE Meditation Event on Wednesday evening, 26 October 2016 from 7:45pm-8:45pm.

Dada Gunamuktananda presents a special event, rarely encountered in yoga circles: a guided tantric meditation using the inherent power of sacred mantra – a powerful technique for peace of mind, self-knowledge and deep wellbeing.

Below is Dada’s talk at TEDxNoosa.

Tantric meditation is the process of centring yourself on your inner self; of connecting to your true self. It’s about finding the essence of yourself within yourself and realising that essence as the inner self of all beings and the entire universe. It results in the deepest experience of peace, love and bliss within, and a loving meaningful connection with all people and all things.

If you have health issues, if you are stressed, if you feel lonely, afraid, anxious or depressed, if you have addictions, if you have trouble focusing, trouble learning, lack of clarity, lack of direction, relationship or dependency issues; tantric meditation will help you with all these things because it will lift your entire being above them all, in the process of embracing your destiny and finding the bliss within yourself.

Discover how this ancient and powerful practice of tantric meditation can transform your life into bliss.

Dada Gunamuktananda trained in meditation, yoga, philosophy and natural health sciences in Australia, the Philippines and India. Since 1995 he has taught meditation in Australia, Europe, North Africa, the Middle East, the Far East and North America.

WHEN: Wednesday 26 October 2016, 7:45pm-8:45pm.

WHERE: Canberra Yoga Space, Level 1 / 13 Botany Street, PHILLIP ACT 2606.

Yoga is a 5,000-year-old physical, mental and spiritual practice Having its origin in India that can transform both body and mind. On 11 December 2014, the United Nations General Assembly declared 21st June as the International Day of Yoga.

The declaration came after the call for the adoption of 21st June as International Day of Yoga by Honourable Indian Prime Minister, Mr Narendra Modi during his address to UN General Assembly on 27 September 2014. During his address he stated: “Yoga is an invaluable gift of India’s ancient tradition. It embodies unity of mind and body; thought and action; restraint and fulfilment; harmony between man and nature; a holistic approach to health and well-being. It is not about exercise but to discover the sense of oneness with yourself, the world and the nature.”

Mr. Narendra Modi suggested the June 21, which is the Summer Solstice, as the International Day of Yoga. Mr. Narendra Modi had said that, “the date is the longest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere and has special significance in many parts of the world.”
