New Meditation Course for Beginners with Angela Baker starts Friday 2 May

Prenatal Yoga – 10 Week Course with Monica Anderson

Prenatal Yoga Teacher - Monica AndersonJoin experienced prenatal yoga teacher Monica Anderson for a 10-week prenatal yoga course, running from Monday 28 April to 30 June.

This course is dedicated to providing holistic support to pregnant women, through yoga practice, breath-work, and informative sessions on birth preparation and lateral services, such as doula support and courses that are good to know such as calm birth, and preparing for your first six weeks with bub.

Practising yoga throughout your pregnancy is a wonderful gift that you give to yourself and your unborn baby. Prenatal yoga will help you be in the best possible shape for birth and beyond! From teaching experience, you will also enjoy faster muscle recovery after birth.

Benefits you will enjoy are on all levels – physical, mental, emotional and spiritual. As you practise regularly you will increase your strength, stamina and flexibility. You’ll also find that your yoga helps you deal more effectively with stress and anxiety, as well as appreciating the quiet time you set aside for your yoga practice as a sanctuary for you to connect with the baby growing inside you.

Yoga Teacher - Jen BrownOur next beginners yoga course with yoga teacher Jen Brown starts on Wednesday, 30 April 2014 and runs for 10 weeks until 2 July 2014. Each class is for an hour from 6:00pm – 7:00pm.

No experience is required. The course is designed for absolute beginners. You will be guided through the fundamental principles with breath, movement and alignment. This class offers a good foundation for you to progress to other classes and yoga styles.

Join guest teacher Marcus Edwardes – Ashtanga Yoga, Friday 11 April @ 5:45PM @ CYS

We are excited to have amazing Ashtanga Yoga guest teacher, Marcus Edwardes teaching at CYS this Friday, 11 April at 5:45pm.  Don’t miss this opportunity, sign-up online HERE.

Marcus first came to yoga for flexibility and believes in its ability to transform and heal. He sees yoga as a tool that helps us through the cycle of life (samsara). As well as practicing yoga daily, this year, he will make another trip to India and embark on a wild surfing adventure in Indonesia.  He continues to study yoga with trips to India and New York having been influenced in the Ashtanga and Jivamukti yoga traditions. He is currently studying physiotherapy at the University of Canberra (and is loving it!) and ultimately aims to serve others by integrating Western science with Eastern philosophy. When not studying he loves to practice Asthanga yoga, meditate, surf, eat anything vegan and is known to consume ridiculous amounts of green smoothies. Practice, practice, practice and all is coming.

Marcus has been practicing yoga for over 10 years. He loves the beauty, grace and tradition of Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga as taught by Indian yoga master Sri K. Pattabhi Jois and has had the privilege to study in Mysore, India.  Marcus is a Level 1 Yoga Teacher and was the first ACT representative for Yoga Australia. He has completed teacher training on the Ashtanga Yoga Primary Series with David Swenson.  And is also a certified Jivamukti yoga teacher having studied with Sharon Gannon and David Life in New York.

His classes follow traditional yogic teachings focusing on regular practice (abhyasa), mediation (dhyana), study of ancient scriptures (sastra), strength, poise and steadiness in postures and connection to the earth (sthira sukham asanam). He is sincerely thankful to all his teachers especially R. Sharath Jois, Dr M.A. Jayashree, Professor Narasimha, Paul Frechtling, Mark Robberds, Eileen Hall, Ruth Lauer-Manenti and his first teacher Carmela Lacey.

Easter and ANZAC Holiday Timetable

We are CLOSED on Good Friday, Easter Sunday, Easter Monday, and ANZAC Day (Friday).

We are open on a reduced schedule for Easter Saturday. The morning class is open at 9am with Pippa Matthews. The studio will be closed for the rest of the day. Otherwise, we are open with our regular schedule on all other days. Click here to check out our timetable.
