We feel privileged to announce that James Bryan, co-founder of Knoff Yoga is coming to Canberra Yoga Space for a full weekend immersion workshop this July 2017.
Knoff Yoga is one of Australia’s leading yoga schools, and provides the highest quality training available in the world. With a combined 80 years of experience between Nicky Knoff and James Bryan, having both trained and certified in BOTH the Iyengar Yoga tradition and the Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga tradition (1st to 4th series) – this is the first training school internationally to thoroughly combine the benefits of both methods to bring about the full potential in both the practitioner and yoga teacher.
Introducing rigorous technique whilst potent in its fundamental emphasis for the individual to come home to one’s self and taking ownership over one’s own well-being and quality of life — Knoff Yoga continues to provide truly self-empowering and transformative experiences.

About James Bryan
James Bryan was born in Los Angeles (USA) and migrated to NZ in 1969. After studying with B.K.S. Iyengar in Pune, India (1986) and gaining certification, James studied with K. Pattabhi Jois in Mysore, India (1989) and learned the 1st, 2nd, 3rd & 4th Series of Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga.
Out of these experiences and in partnership with Nicky Knoff, the Knoff Yoga System was birthed into existence.
Before yoga, sitting on his back-side in a life crushing office job, led to running marathons in late 70’s and early 80’s. The stretching in long-distance running piqued an interest in yoga.
Weekend Workshop Schedule
Practitioners of all levels and traditions are invited to attend these fun and educational master classes with a modern Western teacher who bridges correct anatomical alignment (injury free) with the energetic principles of Bandha, Drishti, Ujjayi Pranayama and Vinyasa.
These master classes will use the Knoff Foundation Asana syllabus with an emphasis on the Knoff Yoga Principles of Practice, which are universal in application and profound in effect.
When: Friday 14 July to Sunday 16 July 2017 Where: Canberra Yoga Space, Level 1 / 13 Botany Street, Phillip ACT 2606 Cost: $275 for all four sessions or $75 per session
This approach allows for sufficient time to investigate in-depth and answer questions as they arise in the moment. This approach is best appreciated from an overview, i.e. instead of just looking at the individual trees, step back mentally and appreciate the view of the whole forest. Watch the Knoff Yoga YouTube video below to find out more about Knoff Yoga.
All participants will receive extensive notes including:
* Knoff Yoga Overview
* Student Creed
* 5 Pillars of Practice
* 24 Principles of Practice
* Principles of Sequencing
* Foundation Asana syllabus (Full, Day 1 & Day 2)
Participants are encouraged to print and study these before the weekend, so as to gain a lot more out of the sessions.

This 10-week course runs alongside the school term, and has been designed with the intention of providing a supportive, friendly and nurturing environment for mothers and their babies.
Classes have been designed by Monica Anderson and Eli Haski, and taught by Eli Haski. Both Monica and Eli are certified Pre and Postnatal Yoga Instructors.
This is open to mums and babies from 6 weeks old (natural birth), or from 12 weeks (c-section), to crawling.
Enjoy an hour of postnatal yoga for yourself, while taking the opportunity to bond with your baby through song and baby yoga, which is ideal for developing your babies’ sensory development at this early stage. Practise ends with relaxation for you and your baby, followed by half an hour of circle time to share the joys and challenges of mothering.
The yoga poses/ practise (asana) will help you to –
Relieve tension and stress.
Calm and refresh your mind.
Release joints, tight shoulders and lower back.
Provide breath and meditation techniques to support your sleep, and help calm your mind and body.
Start gently toning your abdominal muscles.
Start gently toning your pelvic floor muscles.
Support your muscle recovery post birth.
Open the shoulders and restore the spine back to its pre-pregnancy length and shape.
This is a nurturing space –
Each mother’s unique way of parenting / mothering is honoured and respected.
No one specific way or method of parenting is promoted.
This is a great way to meet other mums and make new friends.
Women are invited to share their experiences in a confidential and safe environment where they are completely accepted and supported.

There is a little bit of space under the stairs on the ground floor if you do need to leave your pram somewhere prior to class. Please ensure that your prams are parked all the way in underneath the stairs, and are not blocking access to the building and other building tenants/ users.
You can bring your baby in a baby capsule or sling
You are welcome to bring bub’s playmat if that helps them settle
Water for yourself, and anything you need to nurse bub. There are two little kitchens located down the hallway on the same floor, as well as toilets.
