KNOFF YOGA ‘Yoga for Holistic Healing A’ (YOGA THERAPY) Teacher Training 2018

KNOFF Yoga Holistic Healing Teacher Training 2018

We are very pleased to announce that KNOFF YOGA will be running their ‘Yoga for Holistic Healing A’ (Yoga Therapy) Teacher Training at Canberra Yoga Space this October 2018.

Yoga for holistic healing is the all inclusive approach to physical and mental well-being that treats acute or chronic ailments, injuries or mis-alignments by bringing the whole body into symmetry and balance through yoga –

  • Postures
  • Breath Work
  • Meditation

KNOFF YOGA runs Yoga Holistic Healing A and B. The course this October is ‘Yoga Holistic Healing A’ which deals with the physiology level of yoga therapy. ‘Yoga Holistic Healing B’ is the second stage option to progress to, which covers the more subtle components of yoga therapy (on an energetic and psychological level).

The Yoga Holistic Healing Teacher Training A will run from Monday 8 to Friday 12 October 2018. This is a non-residential teacher training.

The training will be by Master Yoga Teacher, James E. Bryan (ERYT500), who is the Program Director at KNOFF YOGA in Cairns.

Approach

Yoga techniques are adapted to meet the needs and capabilities of the student in personalised one-on-one programs that are designed specifically for each situation and should be practiced at home after the class.

Yoga holistic healing is distinct from other forms of conventional therapy in that it works to alleviate localised symptoms as well as addressing the causal and peripheral imbalances that would otherwise allow the problems to re-occur.

Yoga holistic healing recognises that the body and mind are interconnected through the agency of the breath and that there is a direct connection between mental and physical states and the condition of the breath. Long slow, steady yoga breathing activates the parasympathetic nervous system, which creates a feeling of peace and calm and allows the body to heal.

A KNOFF YOGA teacher treats you with care and consideration and only starts working with you after reading your health questionnaire and listening to everything you have to say.

The goal of yoga holistic healing is for the student to take control of his or her health, not only to cure a short-term discomfort, but also to stay healthy.

Course Pre-requisites

To join the Yoga Holistic Healing Course A (YOGA THERAPY), you are required to have Level 1 – Discovery and Level 3 – Foundation certification, or an equivalent 200-hour certification. You can submit your application HERE.

PLEASE NOTE: Your application for enrolment will be reviewed by James Bryan at KNOFF YOGA.

***All payments/ enrolment tuition is to be made to Canberra Yoga Space – see details below.

Course Description

In Yoga Holistic Healing A, you will learn how to work with people suffering mainly from structural mis-alignments and problems, e.g. back pain, bad posture, herniated discs, knee pain, neck pain, sacroiliac pain, sciatica, scoliosis, weak joints, etc.

There will be yoga holistic healing classes with volunteer students from the public, so you get to experience working with real people. Learn how to put the theory into practice safely and confidently.

In the morning Asana, Pranayama and Meditations sessions, Teacher Trainees will practice actual yoga holistic healing programs in order to feel and understand their application. In the afternoon Teaching Methodology sessions Teacher Trainees assist, provide props, and take photos and notes, while Nicky (or James) teaches. You will get feed-back direct from the volunteer students on how they feel after doing the specially designed programs. We invite people with a range of health issues. Students are welcome to return for future courses to learn more and keepup with the latest information.

The theory and preparation will cover some of the more typical physical mis-alignments and look at how yoga techniques can bring about an improvement. In addition we will look at the ‘bigger picture’ of how we are more than just a body, and how healing occurs on many different levels.

You will receive a Yoga Holistic Healing Manual and a Yoga Holistic Healing Certificate (if you pass the course).

How to Apply

Step 1: Complete the online application form HERE or click on one of the green buttons. James will assess your application for acceptance into the Teacher Training Course.

Step 2: You will receive a reply, generally within 24-48 hours on the status of your application. If your application is successful you will be directed to make payment of the non-refundable $200 deposit to secure your place. PLEASE MAKE PAYMENT TO Canberra Yoga Space. Contact us HERE.

50 Hour Yin Yoga and Mindfulness Teacher Training with Sarah Owen - January 2019

Immerse yourself deeply in the practice of Yin Yoga during this 50 hour yin yoga and mindfulness teacher training (non-residential) with Sarah Owen. Yin Yoga uses restorative, floor-based poses to nourish and stimulate the deeper energetic channels in the body, providing support for the immune system. Yin Yoga also provides the perfect container to develop deeper levels of self-inquiry and to cultivate the capacity for meditative self-awareness.

During this 50-hour training designed for Yoga Teachers, Sarah Owen will give you the tools to take your practice to a deeper level. You will come away with a clear understanding of safety and anatomical issues pertaining to the Yin Yoga practice, as well as having the ability to creatively sequence yin yoga classes for all levels of students. This training is also designed to deepen your own personal practice of yoga and meditation by incorporating elements of meditation and self-inquiry into your daily yoga practice. The most effective yoga teaching comes from your own personal immersion and deepened personal experience of these ancient methods and teachings.

Deepen your knowledge of the more inward-drawn yoga practices (including pranayama and meditation) and immerse yourself in a personal discovery of the more quiet inner realms. Mindfulness meditation will be explored as an ‘inner method’ during the Yin Yoga poses as well as a seated meditation practice (including the 4 Foundations of Mindfulness).

When: Sunday 6 January to Friday 11 January 2019 from 8:30am-4:30pm.
Where: Canberra Yoga Space, Level 1 / 13 Botany Street, Phillip ACT 2606.
Cost: Early bird of $1300 for full payments before 31 October 2018. Payment of $1450 from 1 November 2018. A payment plan option is available – you can select this option during online sign-up.

I loved every moment of our classes and have integrated my learnings from Sarah and this teacher training into my way of life. Thank you Sarah.” SM

“The Yin Yoga Teacher training with Sarah Owen has transformed the way I teach both Yin and my regular Hatha classes. I feel as though my practice and the way I teach now contains a richer mix of the eight limbs of Yoga. What I enjoyed most from the training was the teachings of the ‘inner methods’ of Yoga. Sarah provided us with a diverse variety of pranayama, concentration, and meditation techniques that can be used once you have set students up in the pose. These practices help to take the students beyond the physical body, so that they can experience the greater benefits – the system of self-transformation – that is Yoga.” AK

Niki De Domenico Core Yoga IntensiveNiki De Domenico 4-Day Core Yoga Intensive
27-30 December (12:00-1:00pm)

Core Yoga helps build awareness, strength and stamina in our core—physically, mentally and emotionally. Physically we need a strong yet subtle core for almost every pose, and off the mat, for stability and for longevity. But don’t equate Core Yoga with a flat belly or six-pack abs—while these are worthy fitness goals for some. Core Yoga has so much more to offer then toning up the abs!

Core Yoga improves posture, balance and breathing. It helps to reduce back pain and creates safer-movement patterns. Core Yoga can even help increase athletic performance (if that’s your thing!). A strong core not only strengthens your body but also your mental and emotional wellbeing. You are more resilient to life’s ups and downs when you live from your core, centred and calm.

Core Yoga is a slow, floor-based practise, where we focus on key muscles—abdominals, pelvic muscles, mid-and-lower back muscles and hip muscles—while maintaining breath and present-moment awareness. By practising this way, we can relax the mind, oxygenate and detoxify the body as well as heal and improve our wellbeing. Remember, if you sit, stand, walk or do nearly any kind of activity: you’re using your core!

If your core could use a tune up during the holiday season, then come along to our Core Yoga Intensive.

All levels welcome!

To reap the full benefits you need to sign up for and attend all 4 sessions in this intensive. Your $75 Unlimited pass or your direct debit pass makes you eligible to attend this intensive. Bookings are essential – reserve your spot online now.

Jon Smillie - Vinyasa IntensiveJon Smilie 5 Day Vinyasa Intensive
8-12 Jan (7:00-8:00am)

In this 5-day intensive, we’ll be working with Tapas (that burning fire within) in Abhyasa (practice that aims at achieving a tranquil state of mind) – i.e. a regular, focused practice with some intensity – to burn through Samskara (mental impressions) and set a new pattern that resonates with you for the new year.

What’s on offer is a dynamic, Hatha-based flow, progressing through many of the classic poses, and revisiting these poses on successive days to build depth, strength, and purpose. Clearing obstructions in the physical body, and recharging the energetic body, this fast-track period of practice will establish a new foundation to take you forward in the new year.

Who is this intensive appropriate for?
This intensive is ideal for competent beginners and regular practitioners. Poses will be straightforward – Jon will cue a steady flowing sequence, and invite you to take rests as needed to regulate your own intensity. Practise is accessible – you can just drop back in and re-join when you’re ready to go again. All levels of experience can be accommodated in these classes.

To reap the full benefits you need to sign up for and attend all 5 sessions in this intensive. Your $75 Unlimited pass or your direct debit pass makes you eligible to attend this intensive. Bookings are essential – reserve your spot online now.

Sign up for our meditation course on Fridays 6.30-7.30pm for one of the best ways to unwind and recharge.

The classes develop your ability to let go and find stillness over our 10 week course term.

Benefits of meditation

  • Activating, easy movements that help energise your body and transition you from your busy day into the practice session
  • Flowing, mindful movements to help release tension from body and mind
  • Deep relaxation that gives your body’s natural repair system time to restore balance
  • Sitting practice gradually developed over the 10 weeks to ensure you are comfortable, properly guided and supported to experience stillness and silence

You will be surprised how effectively your practice develops over the course. You will enjoy how refreshed you feel after each class!

“I really enjoyed the meditation classes, Angela has a lovely relaxed way of making you feel special and as though what you are doing is ‘just right’, (even when I was probably quite uncoordinated and ditzy). I went with a friend and we really learnt a lot and had fun while we practiced. We both looked forward to the classes at the end of each (frantic) week and the meditation really helped me relax and focus better. I still practice regularly and would definitely sign up again.”  — Laura Angus

This term’s classes will be lead by Angela Baker and Karen Ivkovic, Dru Yoga & Meditation
