Benefits of meditation

  • Activating, easy movements that help energise your body and transition you from your busy day into the practice session
  • Flowing, mindful movements to help release tension from body and mind
  • Deep relaxation that gives your body’s natural repair system time to restore balance
  • Sitting practice gradually developed over the 10 weeks to ensure you are comfortable, properly guided and supported to experience stillness and silence

You will be surprised how effectively your practice develops over the course. You will enjoy how refreshed you feel after each class!

“I really enjoyed the meditation classes, Angela has a lovely relaxed way of making you feel special and as though what you are doing is ‘just right’, (even when I was probably quite uncoordinated and ditzy). I went with a friend and we really learnt a lot and had fun while we practiced. We both looked forward to the classes at the end of each (frantic) week and the meditation really helped me relax and focus better. I still practice regularly and would definitely sign up again.”  — Laura Angus

This term’s classes will be lead by Angela Baker.

Discover DRU Yoga

Discover DRU Yoga

Discover DRU Yoga

I first encountered DRU Yoga back in 2006.  The DRU Yoga teachers struck me as one of the least egotistical, most down-to-earth yogis I have ever met.

Did you know that DRU Yoga is one of the biggest yoga organisations in the world? And that their head office in Australia is right here in Canberra (Fisher). The founders were followers of Gandhi, and the essence of this organisation is reflected from this lineage.

DRU yoga focuses on the individual’s transformation, focusing less on the physicality of yoga and more on the subtle connection between one’s state of mind and level of consciousness, and how this connects with your health and the life you create daily. The physical asanas is a component of the entire practise, instrumental in clearing blocked energy in your system.

DRU teachers go where it is needed, from community centres to war torn villages, using the mechanism of yoga to support trauma therapy, etc.  Their noble efforts have been recognised by the United Nations.

You can learn more about DRU Yoga Worldwide here. And their Australian website. They also have an online shop. We have had the joy of working with DRU Yoga Australia’s head teachers through our mother company, liveyogalife.com – and you can access a downloadable class from Andrew  Wells and Trish Brown online. Take this transformative practice with you anytime, anywhere.

CYS is privileged to have highly trained DRU teachers on board our team – Angela Baker and Lynnette Dickinson. View our timetable for more info.

CYS offers a wide range of representative styles of yoga to allow you access to high quality classes that will allow you the full breadth and dimension to your personal growth through yoga and mediation.  We encourage you to explore all the different styles. And design your week to allow you growth on all levels – physical, clearing the mind and emotions, releasing tension and blocked energy.

Ultimately, your regular practice will allow higher body-awareness and self-awareness, enabling you to be healthier and clearer with your goals and daily decisions.

Namaste.
