Yin Yoga Weekend – Early bird discount finishes tomorrow 31 August

Yin Yoga Weekend - Yoga As Self Knowledge with Sarah Owen - 29-30 September 2017

Sarah Owen’s Yin Yoga Weekend is fast approaching and we have a few places left. If you are interested to attend, the early bird price of $120 finishes tomorrow night – Thursday 31 August.

Click here to find out more or enrol.

The weekend comprises of the following three sessions.

Session 1: Yin Yoga and Yoga Nidra, Friday 29 September 6:30-8:30pm

Improve your flexibility, open your heart centre and feel your positive energy rise. We will practice conscious breathing, Yin Yoga postures, mindfulness meditation (anapanasati), and deep conscious relaxation (guided Yoga Nidra). By the end of the workshop you will feel deeply nourished, restored and inspired.

Yin Yoga is a restorative style of yoga that uses passive, long-held poses to keep the energetic body active and the immune system strong. This results in vibrant health and resilient energy levels, while the Yin Yoga sequence does not deplete the body of energy at all. Perfect for all levels of yoga practitioner – everyone welcome!

Session 2: Yoga as Self Knowledge, Saturday 30 September 10:15am-12:45pm

Come home to yourself during this 2.5 hour Hatha Yoga workshop including Vinyasa, Yin Yoga, Pranayama and Meditation. Hatha Yoga uses the mindful integration of physical movements with conscious breath and clear intention. Through regular daily practice, the body becomes strong, the heart more balanced, and the mind more focussed with steady, calm intention.

For thousands of years, Hatha Yoga has been used as a method to develop clarity of attention and to transcend self-imposed limitations in the body and mind. It achieves this by cultivating attention and directing energy through the practices of asana (physical poses), pranayama (breath cultivation), and meditation (cultivation of attention). The term “Hatha” refers to the bringing together, or the integration of, different polarities of being (much like the balancing of yin and yang). This will be an informative and transformative workshop suitable for all levels.

Session 3: Yin Yoga for Cultivating Peace of Mind, Saturday 30 September 1:30-4pm

This deeply introspective yin yoga workshop will include practices to compassionately awaken the body, heart and mind. These simple practices can be repeated at home regularly, creating your own personal sadhana or meditation practice, thereby deepening your capacity to draw upon compassionate acceptance for peace of mind.

In various facets of our lives we are striving for more; seeking improvements or progression along the path. Sometimes the most insightful gift we can give ourselves is the opportunity to relax the fixation to improve, analyse, or explain our circumstances; instead drawing deeply inwards into investigate bare, radical acceptance. Compassionate acceptance is the key to cultivating peace of mind.

“Rather than being dis-heartened by the uncertainty of life, what if we accepted it and relaxed into it? What if we said, ‘Yes, this is the way it is; this is what it means to be human’, and decided to sit down and enjoy the ride?” – Pema Chodron

When: Friday 29 September to Saturday 30 September 2017
Where: Canberra Yoga Space, Level 1 / 13 Botany Street, Phillip ACT 2606
Cost: Early bird of $120 until 31 August 2017, $140 from 1 September 2017 for all three sessions

“The Yin Yoga Teacher training with Sarah Owen has transformed the way I teach both Yin and my regular Hatha classes. I feel as though my practice and the way I teach now contains a richer mix of the eight limbs of Yoga. What I enjoyed most from the training was the teachings of the ‘inner methods’ of Yoga. Sarah provided us with a diverse variety of pranayama, concentration, and meditation techniques that can be used once you have set students up in the pose. These practices help to take the students beyond the physical body, so that they can experience the greater benefits – the system of self-transformation – that is Yoga.” AK
