Kids Yoga Holiday Classes – January 2017

Kids Yoga Holiday Classes - Yoga for Children January 2017

Becoming a child with children
sharing the wonder sharing imagination
being a child makes you complete.

Join us on a journey through the forest, to sea and beyond. What creatures will we discover? Who will you be? What magic can we share?

Our kids yoga holiday classes with Niki De Domenico, offer a safe, non-competitive space for children to have fun, foster self-awareness and creativity while calming the mind and moving the body in a healthy way.

Through games and songs, our classes move through warm-ups to various yoga poses before a moment of rest to explore a visualisation. After yoga we create art about our yoga experience, for example, if we meet a fairy in the forest we make a felt fairy to take home (to remember our journey!).

‘Yoga is a movement of peace. I like doing yoga and you can do any animal you like at the end.’ – Sol, age 5

‘My favourite is being a mermaid in the sea. You have to be quiet, and I feel my heart.’ – Eva, age 3

Classes

Ages 3 to 6
Fridays 6, 13, 20 & 27 January 2017 10:00am-11:00am

Cost: $20 per session, which includes all art materials.

FAQS

Can I attend with my child?

Parents are welcome to participate in the session for 3-6 year olds. Please note, when picking up your child at the end of the session – kindly remain outside the room on arrival as the finishing practise may be quiet relaxation and keeping the space quiet supports your child to get the most out of the session.

My child has mobility restrictions or complex needs. Is this appropriate for him/ her?

Please advise us of your child’s full name and specific requirements (including any injuries, mobility or health issues) via our contact form.

What does my child need to bring?

We recommend comfortable clothing. Practise is done bare-foot. There is a small locker room towards the rear of the room where your child can store his/ her personal items. A bottle of water for after the session is recommended.

Are classes linked or progressive as a series?

You can drop in to any or all of the sessions appropriate for your child’s age. Each class has it’s own unique theme, each with a different art project and they don’t build on the last session.

Find the Bliss Within Yourself – A Special Meditation with Dada Gunamuktananda

A Special Meditation Event with Dada Gunamuktananda - Find the Bliss Within Yourself

Canberra Yoga Space is privileged to have special guest teacher, Dada Gunamuktananda for a FREE Meditation Event on Wednesday evening, 26 October 2016 from 7:45pm-8:45pm.

Dada Gunamuktananda presents a special event, rarely encountered in yoga circles: a guided tantric meditation using the inherent power of sacred mantra – a powerful technique for peace of mind, self-knowledge and deep wellbeing.

Below is Dada’s talk at TEDxNoosa.

Tantric meditation is the process of centring yourself on your inner self; of connecting to your true self. It’s about finding the essence of yourself within yourself and realising that essence as the inner self of all beings and the entire universe. It results in the deepest experience of peace, love and bliss within, and a loving meaningful connection with all people and all things.

If you have health issues, if you are stressed, if you feel lonely, afraid, anxious or depressed, if you have addictions, if you have trouble focusing, trouble learning, lack of clarity, lack of direction, relationship or dependency issues; tantric meditation will help you with all these things because it will lift your entire being above them all, in the process of embracing your destiny and finding the bliss within yourself.

Discover how this ancient and powerful practice of tantric meditation can transform your life into bliss.

Dada Gunamuktananda trained in meditation, yoga, philosophy and natural health sciences in Australia, the Philippines and India. Since 1995 he has taught meditation in Australia, Europe, North Africa, the Middle East, the Far East and North America.

WHEN: Wednesday 26 October 2016, 7:45pm-8:45pm.

WHERE: Canberra Yoga Space, Level 1 / 13 Botany Street, PHILLIP ACT 2606.

HOW MUCH: This is a free event. Donations are welcome. All proceeds go towards funding Dada’s continued work and Ananda Marga’s social service projects around the world.

Background – International Day of Yoga

Yoga is a 5,000-year-old physical, mental and spiritual practice Having its origin in India that can transform both body and mind. On 11 December 2014, the United Nations General Assembly declared 21st June as the International Day of Yoga.

The declaration came after the call for the adoption of 21st June as International Day of Yoga by Honourable Indian Prime Minister, Mr Narendra Modi during his address to UN General Assembly on 27 September 2014. During his address he stated: “Yoga is an invaluable gift of India’s ancient tradition. It embodies unity of mind and body; thought and action; restraint and fulfilment; harmony between man and nature; a holistic approach to health and well-being. It is not about exercise but to discover the sense of oneness with yourself, the world and the nature.”

Mr. Narendra Modi suggested the June 21, which is the Summer Solstice, as the International Day of Yoga. Mr. Narendra Modi had said that, “the date is the longest day of the year in the Northern Hemisphere and has special significance in many parts of the world.”

Dynamic Yoga Immersion with Mark O’Brien this weekend 21-22 May

Dynamic Yoga Immersion with Mark O'Brien this weekend 21-22 May

Embracing the not-knowing. Grasping the fundamental principle of existence. This weekend with Mark O’Brien is intended to take your dynamic practise to a different level in body-mind-awareness. For teachers, this weekend will be particularly beneficial both in terms of the architecture of your classes and inspiration in your teaching. Join us this weekend – 21-22 May with Mark O’Brien.

“Gradually, each in our own way we discover that living from the Source – which often feels like living from Not-knowing – has an uncanny wisdom about it…. It is what the English philosopher Douglas Harding calls ‘alert idiocy’. Grasping the fundamental principle of existence is recognising that deep down one knows nothing…” — Richard Lang
