So we made it half way through the year and what an incredible start to the year it has been. I like to use this time of year to look back on all I have achieved, what I have created, what I have maintained and what I have destroyed. All things in life go through this cycle and with winter being the dormant, gestational time of year, the time to look inward and lay foundations I can’t help but think what a great time to look back, reassess and then move forward with the value of hindsight and insight.

We can reflect and consolidate from this place and draw in the Shiva qualities of creation, maintenance and destruction. What did you create so far this year? Has it served your purpose or is it still unfolding? What are you maintaining or nurturing? Sometime we need to be in a holding pattern, looking after things before they bloom or show their full potential. What have you destroyed this year so far? Have you had to let something go or pull it to pieces. I like to think of this phase as clearing out the dead wood from the garden of the mind or from life itself in order to create space for new things to grow.

As we head into the cooler months, bunker down and consolidate you might ask yourselves these questions and reflect on the previous months and thus gain insight as to how you might move forward into the next half of the year. Thankfully we have the playground of our mat and a place to just move through the body and the breath to help us navigate these questions and so many more. To help us figure out the tough things life can throw at us with out necessarily thinking about them. This is one of the gifts of Yoga, it provides us with the ability to navigate life, its ups and downs, its exciting times, boring times, stressful times and everything in between. It can provide us with an anchor or foundation with which to create stability and consistency in our life no matter the turmoil, it helps us transform, reflect and trust in the flow and ever present quality of change.

We had a great time with the taster class earlier this term, the kids loved the wobble boards and working together. This is a great way to introduce your kids to the joys of yoga and its many benefits. Lunch Time Classes

Beginners Course is having a bit of a change. As you may know some classes in the Beginners course are very full and other have fewer students. In order to start integrating students into open classes and provide more open classes for students the Thursday 12:15 – 1:30pm lunchtime class and the Friday 12:00 – 1:15pm lunchtime beginners classes are now also available to Open students to attend. These class will still be taught at the beginner level and as part of the syllabus, but will provide a great opportunity for open students to brush up on some fundamentals or just enjoy an extra lunchtime class. Please note these are 75min classes. Open students can now book in via the website or Mindbody app as per other classes. Beginners can book in as per usual.

Our next round of the Beginners Course starts this Monday 8th July, there are still spots available, so if you know someone who is thinking about trying yoga this might be the perfect gift for them.
