The next “Advanced Beginners 6-Week Bridging Course” starts Monday 5 November 2018 and runs till Sunday 16 December 2018.
Teachers on the beginners course are on the faculty, so you’ll be familiar with them and vice-versa.
It’s an unlimited package, just like the Beginners deal. But we’re only offering three course-classes to start with, so we have half the capacity with this course.
The course class times are as follow –
Wednesdays 7:40-9:00pm– Yoga Synergy approach with Elena
Saturdays 6:50-8:15am – Iyengar Yoga approach with Jacqui
Sundays 1:20-2:45pm – Vinyasa Hatha approach with Muriel
You can attend up to three course-classes – each week. On top of that, the package also includes an additional two passes to two casual (drop-in) classes a week (we recommend starting with the gentle to moderate classes). This is part of the design, to help build your confidence and support you to be able to assimilate to classes. These are two passes issued each week, and they do expire at the end of the week – yes, you are encouraged to commit to your development and progress.
That’s a total of 5 classes a week for 6 weeks. The course fee is $120. That boils down to $4 a class – the price of a coffee!
To be eligible to attend you must have (a) completed our 6-Week Beginners Course at least twice, or (b) been a regular student at CYS for the last four months.
This next level course, is on one integrated syllabus with the overlay of learning three different styles – Iyengar, Yoga Synergy, and Vinyasa Hatha. There are at least 5 key traditional styles in yoga. Iyengar and Vinyasa Hatha are amongst that five. Yoga Synergy is a signature Australian style (the first and only Australian developed yoga style), that’s derived from these traditional styles – so it will be good for you to understand what it offers.
Each style has something complementary to offer the other. And you will see and feel how they land on your body differently, and enhance the benefits to you, and your capacity differently as well.
This advanced course is the platform for your continuous progress and mentorship, as you continue to deepen in your internal understanding of self, your self-awareness, and continue to meet your potential on the mat.
Classes start and finish on time. Please arrive 10-15 minutes prior to class to allow the Instructor time for registration. There is a lot to be covered in each class, hence “starting on time” means being on your mat with all your equipment ready to start (not walking through the door at the appointed time). Kindly note, to support practitioners and the teacher, we have a closed-door policy (i.e. the teacher locks the door 5 minutes past the start time).
Kindly switch off or set your mobile phone to silent before entering the space. Please leave your mobile and personal items inside the designated locker room located towards your left when you walk in the door. No personal items and shoes are allowed on the practise floor – this is to allow you and your fellow participants unobstructed use of space when you move.
Hydrate yourself before and after class. It is not recommended to have a full meal directly prior to class.
1. Wear something light, comfortable and fitted (not baggy). Singlets, leggings and normal gym wear will suffice. What is important is for you to feel comfortable moving without clothing disrupting your practice.
2. Yoga practise is done barefoot. Kindly leave your socks and shoes in the locker area.
3. All mats and props are provided for at the studio. If you have sensitive knees (when kneeling, or on hands and knees), double up your mat. If you are particular about using your own yoga mat, bring your own mat.
Please note: We require that you wear appropriate clothing. You may be refused entry to any of our classes if you are not appropriately attired. For example, we do not allow transparent (see-through) leggings or pants, or bikinis.
If you have any history of injury, illness, or anything about your health we should know about, PLEASE INFORM YOUR INSTRUCTOR BEFORE CLASS. Kindly note that yoga practise is not a substitute for therapy or medication, hence if you have any pre-existing condition, including pregnancy, injury, history of illness, surgery, or any other symptoms which may affect your health or the safety of your practise, please consult your GP or health care provider prior to commencing practise.
PRACTISE AT YOUR OWN PACE. You can come down to downward facing dog pose or active child’s pose (two alternative resting postures), at any time.
Every asana (posture) also has a simpler variation. Speak to the instructor after class, if you needed an easier variation in class. It is important for us to know our classes support your needs.
